How to Use Naver in Korea

Google works almost everywhere.
But in Korea, the real local information is on Naver.

If you want to find
restaurants, cafés, shops, clinics, or hidden local spots,
use Naver Map and Naver Blog instead of relying only on Google.

Why Naver?

Many Korean businesses update their information on Naver first.

On Naver, you can find:

local restaurants and cafés
Korean reviews
menus and prices
opening hours
directions
blog reviews from locals

    Google is helpful for tourist spots.
    Naver is better for finding places Koreans actually go.

    Apps to download

    Naver Map
    For directions, reviews, restaurants, and saving places.

    Naver App
    For searching local blogs and recommendations.

    How to search like a local

    Use this simple formula:

    Area + Korean keyword

    Examples:

    홍대 맛집 = Hongdae restaurants
    성수 카페 = Seongsu cafés
    명동 가볼만한 곳 = places to visit in Myeongdong
    강남 혼밥 = solo dining in Gangnam

    Useful keywords:

    맛집 = restaurant
    카페 = café
    추천 = recommendation
    후기 = review
    가볼만한 곳 = places to visit
    혼밥 = solo dining

    How to use reviews

    Most reviews are in Korean,
    but Naver Map Papago can translate them.

    Look for these words:

    맛있어요 = delicious
    친절해요 = kind staff
    분위기 좋아요 = nice atmosphere
    웨이팅 = waiting line
    가성비 좋아요 = good value
    재방문 = would visit again

    If many people mention 웨이팅, expect a line.
    If many people say 재방문, it is usually a good sign.

    Final tip

    Search in Korean, check Naver Map reviews, and use Papago to translate.

    That’s the easiest way to find Korea like a local.
